  1. The New York Philharmonic concluded its 17th annual summer residency at the picturesque Bravo! Vail Music Festival with two irresistible programs led by Leonard Slatkin: a charming evening of Cole Porter — joined by vocalists Nicole Cabell, Jennifer Johnson Cano, Ben Bliss, and Rod Gilfry — and a passionate night of Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky with pianist Yefim Bronfman. Philharmonic musicians took the occasional hike and worked with the talented New York Philharmonic Very Young Composers of Vail.

  2. PHOTOS: 2019 Vail Residency Begins

    The New York Philharmonic has returned to breathtaking Colorado for its 17th annual summer at the Bravo! Vail Music Festival. Music Director Jaap van Zweden conducted the first three concerts of the summer — featuring Beethoven, Brahms, Britten, and soloists Augustin Hadelich and Conrad Tao — and Alexander Joel led an evening of movie music. The New York Philharmonic’s fifth annual trip to China as part of the Shanghai Orchestra Academy and Partnership, presented by Starr International Foundation, concluded with the Orchestra’s debut in Nanjing. Then the musicians returned to Shanghai, where they taught the next generation of orchestral musicians at the Shanghai Orchestra Academy — a two-year post-graduate program co-founded by the Philharmonic — and regaled audiences in two concerts led by Music Director Jaap van Zweden.
