Santtu-Matias Rouvali conducts the Orchestra in the Overture to the Rossini opera Semiramide, plus Prokofiev’s Fifth Symphony, which the composer saw as “glorifying the grandeur of the human spirit.” Augustin Hadelich reunites with the NY Phil in Shostakovich’s First Violin Concerto.

Santtu-Matias Rouvali Conductor

The 2024–25 season is Santtu-Matias Rouvali’s fourth year as principal conductor of London’s Philharmonia Orchestra, and he continues as chief conductor of Gothenburg Symphony. He is honorary conductor of Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, close to his home in Finland. In summer 2024, he and the Philharmonia continue their residency in Mikkeli, Finland, and return to the Edinburgh International Festival, performing the Verdi Requiem. He also conducts the New York Philharmonic in two concerts at the Bravo! Vail Music Festival.

Augustin Hadelich Violin

Augustin Hadelich was named Musical America’s 2018 Instrumentalist of the Year. In the 2019–20 season he will appear with more than 25 North American orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic; The Cleveland Orchestra; Minnesota Orchestra; and the Boston, Montreal, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Toronto, Houston, Oregon, and Seattle symphony orchestras. International highlights include performances with London’s Philharmonia Orchestra, NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, Danish National Symphony, Oslo Philharmonic, Finnish Radio Orchestra, and Hong Kong Philharmonic. He is also a frequent guest artist with major orchestras in the Far East, South America, Mexico, New Zealand, and Australia.
