Dr. Maria Francesca Roccisano


Dr. Maria Francesca Roccisano is a child and adolescent psychiatrist and the director of child and adolescent psychiatry services at Northwell Lenox Hill’s Outpatient Center for Mental Health. Dr. Roccisano obtained her bachelor of arts degree in music before pursuing her medical degree. She has worked hard to integrate both of these interests into her professional career. Dr. Roccisano has led implementation strategies for developing music interventions for psychiatrically hospitalizations teens. She presented a workshop titled Listening, Thinking and Sharing: A Workshop for Clinicians on Using Music in Treatment at the Annual American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry meeting. She has taught an undergraduate course for several semesters on the role of music in child development. In clinical practice Dr. Roccisano continues to use music as a method of connecting with her patients and supporting mental health and wellbeing. In addition to individual work Dr. Roccisano enjoys working with families and mother-infant dyads.
