Dortmund and Berlin

The EUROPE / SPRING 2013 tour has embarked on its German leg. Emanuel Ax joined the Orchestra for concerts in Dortmund and Berlin, and a quartet of Philharmonic principal players were musical emissaries at the U.S. Ambassador to Germany’s Berlin residence.

Grandeur and a Groundbreaker in Dresden

This week the Orchestra traveled to Dresden for two concerts, each with a very different flavor. The first featured Mozart, Bloch, and Musorgsky at Dresden's grand Semperoper. The second, Webcast live around the world from Volkswagen's Transparent Factory, featured Magnus Lindberg's theatrical, out-of-the-box Kraft,as well as Christopher Rouse's Prospero's Rooms and Bernstein's Serenade with violinist Joshua Bell.

Zurich, Munich, and Essen

Three concerts in three days makes for a lot of travel — and music! Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic team up with violinist Joshua Bell in Zurich and Munich, and reunite with The Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence Emanuel Ax in Essen.
