Trifonov and Prokofiev in Shanghai

Posted July 05, 2016

The Scherzo: Vivace from Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 2 is "a tour de force of perpetual motion," Michael Steinberg wrote. That also describes pianist Daniil Trifonov, who even dances a bit (1:07).

This is from a rehearsal in Shanghai Symphony Hall on July 2; the concert that night kicked off the New York Philharmonic's second annual performance residency as part of its Shanghai Orchestra Academy and Residency Partnership.
