Music of Conscience

The season culminates in three weeks of unforgettable music created in response to historical events, political unrest, and societal turmoil. Highlights include John Corigliano's piercing, personal dedication to loved ones lost and impacted by the widespread AIDS epidemic of the ʼ80s, and the World Premiere of Pulitzer Prize winner David Lang’s opera prisoner of the state — a retelling of Beethoven’s Fidelio, about a woman’s attempt to rescue her husband from unjust political imprisonment — in a fully staged production. Community partners include The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center, the International Rescue Committee, and Stonewall 50 Consortium.
