The New York Philharmonic concludes its residency at the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival with back-to-back concerts conducted by Music Director Designate Alan Gilbert, and bids farewells to two of its longtime musicians: Principal Clarinet Stanley Drucker, retiring after 60 years, and Associate Principal Bass Jon Deak, retiring after 39.

Following four days of travel and nonstop rehearsals and concerts, the New York Philharmonic musicians finally have some time off — for sports, sightseeing, entertaining, and practicing.

The Philharmonic's Rocky Mountain residency begins in earnest, with three back-to-back performances on a busy weekend in Vail.
July 23–24
Having taken a bus, a plane, and another bus, the New York Philharmonic has finally arrived in Colorado and begun rehearsals for its seventh annual residency in Vail. The first concert is tonight, conducted by Music Director Designate Alan Gilbert and with baritone Nathan Gunn singing Copland.
